Dr. Klaus Piroth
Klaus Piroth is an engineer with more than two decades of professional experience. As the Principal Manager of CDM Smith’s Water and Municipal Infrastructure Division in Germany, he focuses on flood risk management, hydrogeology and groundwater. Additionally, his expertise includes flow and solute transport modelling, as well as environmental infrastructure and water planning, project management and control, approval processes and public relations.
The list of projects he has worked on in Germany includes the Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport, and the German railway and urban development project known as "Stuttgart 21". One of his projects he looks back on with pride was the heavy rainfall analysis in Dortmund, also in Germany. The highly qualified project team, close communication with the client, and transparent collaboration with the citizens in public meetings made the project unforgettable for him.
Reflecting on his early passion for civil engineering, Klaus Piroth remembers being interested in buildings of everyday life and the answer to the question what was needed to plan and construct them. During his study, he found hydraulic engineering to be the most interesting field, which ultimately guided his career path.
