About Ivan
Ivan Kwan is a Principal Environmental Engineer with over 25 years of experience. Ivan is also accredited by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) as a Contaminated Sites Auditor in Western Australia and the South Australian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) as a Site Contamination Auditor. Ivan has worked extensively for the private sector and Government in contaminated land investigations, assessment, remediation and management, surface hydrological studies (for various projects including mine closure in Australia and overseas), and the investigation and management of acid sulfate soils associated with residential developments and public infrastructure. He has also undertaken various due diligence audits for international finance companies and Government agencies. Ivan has a demonstrated strategic view of contaminated site management, focusing on constraints and opportunities for site remediation and development.

Contaminated Sites
Scoping and implementing site investigation, management, and remediation for a broad range of mining, major infrastructure and oil and gas projects.
Waste Management and Soil Reuse
Review of waste guidance and involved in the revision of the regulatory waste framework. Involved in waste assessment and waste classification projects to characterise material for reuse and/or management.
Acid Sulfate Soil Assessment
Formulation of acid sulfate soil assessment programs, implementation, and data interpretation. Involved in strategic advice for management and minimising disturbance by using alternative construction methods or reducing dewatering.
Asbestos
Site investigations and remediation of asbestos-impacted sites from residential developments through to large-scale site developments for schools and other sensitive facilities/land uses.
Landfills
Involved in a variety of landfill assessment projects for Government and industry clients. Responsible for scoping of assessment, liaison with regulators, gas, soil and groundwater measurements and data interpretation. Review of waste composition and waste disposal processes.
Community Consultation and Participation
Presentation of technical information at community meetings and public participation forums.
Mine Closure
Technical advice and direction with respect to mine closure requirements for the scoping and assessment of site investigations to meet regulatory conditions relating to landform stability, contamination, and ongoing commitments.
