Dr. techn. Petra Drucker

Petra Drucker, DTech, is an experienced Senior Consultant of our Business Unit for Infra­struc­ture/Geotechnics with over 24 years of profes­sional background and over 80 succesful project closures. In Austria, she has been a surveyor appointed by the Court for underground construc­tion, foundation engineering and geotechnics as well as for soft ground tunnel construc­tion since 2012. Furthermore, since 2015, she has also been engineering legal advisor for civil engineering (autho­riza­tion not registered).

Some of the many outstanding projects that Petra Drucker worked on were geot­ech­ni­cal consulting services for the construc­tion of the Wien River Valley Collecting Sewer in Vienna, geot­ech­ni­cal project management for highway S31 expansion in Austria as well as the new construc­tion of a transfer station of a landfill in Germany. Here, she was responsible for geot­ech­ni­cal inves­ti­ga­tions, the conceptual design of load tests, assessment compilation, and the settlement prognosis for the landfill’s new transfer station.

Currently, Petra Drucker is working as a technical project manager for geot­ech­ni­cal consulting for the new construc­tion of Munich’s subway Line 9, executed in open construc­tion method. On behalf of Munich’s public services, CDM Smith supervises the ground inves­ti­ga­tion work and prepares the geot­ech­ni­cal reports for station and switch shafts. She also is engaged as project manager in geot­ech­ni­cal aspects of the extension of the German autobahn A1 between Niehl and Leverkusen-West. Here, as a subcon­trac­tor of the planning office Petra advises the contracting authority (Autobahn GmbH des Bundes) concerning various issues during construc­tion, such as foundation alter­na­tives, sheet piling, grouted anchors, overall stability veri­fi­ca­tions and follow-up inves­ti­ga­tions.

The opportunity at CDM Smith to work on challenging civil engineering projects nationally and inter­na­tion­ally, and to contribute her expertise is what drives Petra on a day-to-day basis to deliver top performance in her job. She thrives from the positive feedback of her clients, co-workers and leaders. Already as a teen, she was dreaming of a work life construct­ing bridges and tunnels, now enjoying the career as a civil engineer.

Petra Drucker's advice to junior engineers is not to get discouraged, to choose the best possible working environment, and to focus on what they enjoy.
