Kupferzell Germany
On Monday, 10 June 2024, the construction of one of the world's largest battery storage facilities officially began in Kupferzell. Under the motto "Together for the grid of the future", the grid booster will be used as part of the German transmission grid.

The way the system works is innovative. It serves as a safety buffer for the power grid so that the existing grid can be utilized to a greater extent than before while maintaining security of supply and without actively feeding energy into the grid. In the event of a fault, the battery storage system can provide energy downstream of a potential grid bottleneck within seconds like an airbag and at the same time reduce the feed-in upstream of the bottleneck. This reduces the need for additional lines and interventions in the grid operation and thus lowers costs. The Grid Booster will also enable greater integration of renewable energies and reduce the need to expand the grid.

A great start for one of the most important energy expansion projects in our country.
