Serengeti National Park Tanzania
The Trustees of Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) selected CDM Smith and its subsidiary, Trinnex, to conduct a traffic management project at Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. CDM Smith and Trinnex will design, supervise and train TANAPA staff on an innovative, modular information technology management solution (ITMS) for the protected area, making the park safer for visitors and wildlife.

The Serengeti National Park draws in approximately 500,000 visitors annually, primarily via motorized transport. Heightened traffic congestion and logistical complexities pose a significant threat to the park’s fragile ecosystems. Together, CDM Smith and Trinnex will leverage a tailored digital traffic management ITMS to enhance visitor experiences, facilitate a more balanced distribution of vehicles, prioritize the preservation of wildlife habitats, alleviate soil compaction and minimize disturbances to the park's wildlife. The project will span three years and encompass various phases including conceptualization, design, procurement and training.

Donors and clients are increasingly seeking digital approaches and solutions for international development projects.
