Dan Cooke
Environmental scientist Dan Cooke is inspired by the care and dedication of individuals collaborating as a team. “The way our project teams address our client’s needs from every angle, using decades of experience gives me a great sense of satisfaction. Working with our clients toward protection of human health and the environment inspires me to look to a cleaner, more sustainable future,” he says.
Dan has over three decades of project management experience in the design, direction, and performance of ecological risk assessments, sediment evaluations, environmental toxicology studies, coastal marine habitat assessments, natural resource evaluations, and more.
He has extensive experience as lead technical reviewer for dozens of ecological risk assessments and environmental site assessments for the USEPA, and has performed substantial sediment, soil, groundwater, and surface water investigations. “I've worked on some of the largest contaminated sediment sites in the country, and I've had a hand in reversing a century's worth of pollution in some of them. Being able to say that I helped reopen a waterway for boating, swimming, and fishing-and being able to eat the fish-is a great feeling,” says Dan.
“I'm always amazed by the brilliant scientists and engineers that I get the opportunity to work with at CDM Smith. The problem-solving abilities and the quality of the work produced by our teams is unmatched. The corporate culture fosters growth and flexibility along with long-term stability. When I joined the firm, it was great to meet so many people who had made 20–30-year careers here,” he says about his experience with the firm.
