Jeff Van Pelt, PE
As the geotechnical regional team leader, Jeff leads geotechnical engineering projects in the water/wastewater, federal and industrial service units. “I truly enjoy helping to foster and guide our team's growth through mentorship and providing them with increasingly challenging projects,” he says.
Jeff has extensive experience in planning and executing subsurface investigations, geotechnical analyses, construction monitoring and geotechnical report and specification preparation. “I’ve worked on a wide-range of geotechnical projects across several states… everything from a new treatment plant, dam evaluation, levee or floodwall design, trenchless pipeline design or mitigating for a railroad slope failure,” he says. “The variety of our projects is what keeps me excited to show up to work!”
Jeff is most proud of his work on the first phase of the North Texas Municipal Water District’s Sister Grove RWRRF project. He played a key role in the project, serving as lead geotechnical engineer. It involved the exploration and design of a 1,000-acre greenfield site to construct a new 16-MGD water reclamation facility for the growth of North Texas.
“What attracted me most was the opportunity to contribute to the geotechnical design of projects from project inception and planning through design and ultimately through construction,” says Jeff about his decision to join CDM Smith. “I liked that our firm focuses on multi-discipline projects and strives to improve the communities in which we work as part of every project.”
I truly enjoy helping to foster and guide our team's growth through mentorship.
