John Helwig, PE, CMRP, A55K
John Helwig has 20 years of experience in engineering, infrastructure management, infrastructure finance, and asset management, with emphasis on water, utilities, and transportation. He’s inspired by “strong leaders that employ humility, modesty, and empathy. It empowers others to do their best and creates a safe culture to allow innovation and creativity to flourish.”
John's favorite part of his job is “working across a spectrum of unique client challenges ranging from the strategic to tactical to the technical,” he says. “I also really enjoy my fellow colleagues.” John’s diverse technical skills and in-depth understanding of the nexus between maintenance management, capital planning, and risk and strategic management set him up to deliver legendary client service.
His current project, the Mojave Water Agency, is his proudest professional accomplishment to date. “We're building a world class asset management program from the ground up,” he says. Project tasks include developing functional system service levels, asset lifecycle strategies, conducting a data and systems gap analysis, performing risk analysis, and more.
When asked, Why CDM Smith? John says, “our ability to manage large programs given we're less than 10,000 employees, our repute as a global technical leader in water and wastewater, and our near peerless asset management group!”
