Carola Zeig
Carola Zeig is Head of our International Business Unit in Europe, consisting of the divisions Large Infrastructure, Federal/Multinational, and Development Assistance Europe. She started her professional career as a banker, holds a diploma in industrial engineering and management specialized in civil engineering, and did a PhD in Engineering at TU Darmstadt, Germany, specializing in wastewater technology.
Carola has an international consulting background and has many years of experience as project manager and technical expert in the fields of sanitary environmental engineering, integrated waste management, and climate change adaptation. In her project work she was involved in EU projects as well as in financial collaboration and development cooperation projects in Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Asia. These were mainly implementation projects, concept/feasibility studies, vulnerability and financial analyses, as well as quality assurance and risk management. Her expert focus lies on interlinking and optimizing economic and technological aspects while considering interdisciplinary and international conditions.
She takes great inspiration from solid teamwork, implementing a newly generated approach, and positive feedback of all stakeholders involved. Carola Zeig is member of GIZ’s working group for water/wastewater/waste, and is also member of the IWAR Institute’s friends’ association at TU Darmstadt.
