Carola Zeig

Carola Zeig is Head of our Inter­na­tional Business Unit in Europe, consisting of the divisions Large Infra­struc­ture, Federal/Multi­na­tional, and Development Assistance Europe. She started her profes­sional career as a banker, holds a diploma in industrial engineering and management specialized in civil engineering, and did a PhD in Engineering at TU Darmstadt, Germany, special­iz­ing in wastewater technology.

Carola has an inter­na­tional consulting background and has many years of experience as project manager and technical expert in the fields of sanitary envi­ron­men­tal engineering, integrated waste management, and climate change adaptation. In her project work she was involved in EU projects as well as in financial collab­o­ra­tion and development cooperation projects in Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Asia. These were mainly imple­men­ta­tion projects, concept/feasibility studies, vulner­a­bil­ity and financial analyses, as well as quality assurance and risk management. Her expert focus lies on inter­link­ing and optimizing economic and tech­no­log­i­cal aspects while considering inter­dis­ci­pli­nary and inter­na­tional conditions.

She takes great inspiration from solid teamwork, imple­ment­ing a newly generated approach, and positive feedback of all stake­hold­ers involved. Carola Zeig is member of GIZ’s working group for water/wastewater/waste, and is also member of the IWAR Institute’s friends’ association at TU Darmstadt.
