Ilja Prinz
Ilja Prinz studied Civil Engineering at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences before embarking on his career as a project engineer. He is responsible for Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) at CDM Smith. True to his personal credo, “simplicity is the key to brilliance,” he makes sure that the company’s own standards are coordinated and developed further across Europe. In his spare time, he enjoys making music and also appreciates good food.
Why are you working for CDM Smith? As a company, CDM Smith takes a highly innovative approach to thought and action, something I see as one of the most important success factors in a company. It has become even more important to be at the forefront of technology, especially in this digital, online day and age. CDM Smith has given me the opportunity to combine my IT affinity, engineering knowhow and organisational skills to provide me with personal and professional satisfaction in my daily work.
What is your favorite part of your job? I enjoy helping making work more efficient and effective using modern technology. I love studying, understanding and optimising processes. Humans make up the most exciting factor in process optimisation, which is the second part of what makes it all so rewarding – dealing with people.
Which one of CDM Smith’s core values (excellence, initiative, shared responsibility, integrity and teamwork) do you identify the most and why? Teamwork and excellence. I’m convinced that excellent performance can be achieved by working towards a common goal.
What is the best (or worst) part of your work day? When I see people’s excitment over my visions, and then seeing them work on it with the same motivation as I do.
I am striving for a symbiosis of classical architecture and modern technology.
