Matthias Müller
Matthias Müller has successfully managed over 70 projects, and holds a key position as project manager. With over 20 years of professional experience, he has already faced multiple challenges. In recent years, he has been mainly involved in ecosystem based adaptation within the context of coastal erosion in a changing climate as part of a project funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) through the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). In this role, he designed and lead the implementation of climate adaptation measures in mangroves, seagrass beds, dunes and beaches, as well as the establishment of a nationwide monitoring system. Matthias excels in leading inter-disciplinary teams. He strikingly showcased this i.e. with feasibility studies and designs for projects regarding the protection of natural resources of the Selva Maya region in Central America, or the planning of financing programs for new conservation areas.
Matthias Müller recalls one project in the Dominican Republic in particular, where measures were implemented supporting the adaptation to climate change, and reduce CO2-emmissions. This was done by funding ecological coffee and lime production as well as sustainable municipal forest management. CDM Smith’s added value lies in global, inter-disciplinary expertise to create sustainable solutions, particularly for projects funded by bi and multi-lateral stakeholders in international cooperation. Matthias attaches key importance to efficiently organising his work, gathering feedback from colleagues as well as in creative problem solving in case of unforseen challenges.
Sustainable solutions need technical expertise, social and emotional competences.
