Dr Volker Schrenk
Volker Schrenk’s early passion for environmental issues led him to study Geology. His dissertation focused on the life cycle assessments of remediation technologies. Today, he is not only an expert in the fields of remediation, land management and land recycling, but also a Local Team Leader in our Environment and Energy division in Germany. His team tackles a wide range of environmental technical challenges: from soil and groundwater investigations to land recycling, building contaminants, and permit management, as well as projects related to energy transition.
Clients particularly appreciate CDM Smith’s extensive expertise and wide range of services, which consistently deliver optimal solutions. With his professional competence and many years of experience in project management, Volker Schrenk accompanies numerous projects including the preparation for construction and reuse of brownfields or groundwater remediation. In the German town Oberursel, he played a key role in addressing CHC contamination, where his team used a combination of soil vapour extraction and steam-air injection. Additionally, Volker Schrenk supports clients dealing with PFAS-related issues. During the construction of the new Terminal 3 at the international Frankfurt Airport in Germany, he worked as a project manager focusing on the recycling of PFAS-contaminated soil material.
