Dan Flaherty, PE

Dan Flaherty is a mechanical engineer with 20 years of experience in the design, construc­tion, and commis­sion­ing of building mechanical systems. Dan has worked in wastewater treatment and water purifi­ca­tion facilities, manu­fac­tur­ing facilities, labo­ra­to­ries and remote electronics facilities. In addition, he’s a certified commis­sion­ing profes­sional in AABC Commis­sion­ing Group (ACG) and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrig­er­a­tion and Air-Condi­tion­ing Engineers (ASHRAE). 

“CDM Smith provides a career in which I have oppor­tu­ni­ties to make my community healthier, cleaner, more sustainable and resilient,” Dan says. His favorite part of his job is getting to explain a technology to someone who is not familiar with it, and seeing the moment when they understand the technology and how it is implemented.

Dan’s favorite project to date was the Eversource Geothermal Pilot in Framingham, Mass­a­chu­setts. “I was part of a great team that included the client, the city, the stake­hold­ers, the community and other CDM Smith staff who were engaged to make this new sustainable system successful in the community,” he says.
