Jana Heymann
Civil engineer Jana Heymann is division manager for infrastructure and geotechnical engineering in our Berlin office. Her areas of expertise include mining and discontinued mines, as well as civil and structural engineering. She is currently managing stability planning in a project to convert the disused Konrad iron ore mine into a final repository for radioactive waste with negligible heat generation. In addition, Jana Heymann analyses stability in abandoned mines and has also planned excavation pits for various building projects in Berlin, Konstanz, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf.

What is your favorite part of your job? Structuring and organising my work is important to me. I try to inspire the team with my enthusiasm and motivation for our projects and the underlying challenges they involve.
What are your tips for young engineers? Young engineers should become acquainted with real-life engineering on construction sites—abroad if possible. They will need this experience to plan ideal solutions at their desk, using appropriate background knowledge.
