Jonathan Kunay
Jonathan Kunay is CDM Smith’s pipeline conveyance discipline leader and has spent the entirety of his career at the firm. Starting as a co-op over a decade ago, he has become one of the firm’s go-to experts regarding underground infrastructure assessment and rehabilitation.
Jonathan is serving as the project manager for several city-wide sewer rehabilitation plans in New England, as well as condition assessments and master planning for the U.S. Navy and various universities. He drives the advancement of multi-sensor tech, robust software tools, and data analytics to elevate the sophistication level in asset management protocols for risk-based prioritization and capital planning.
With experience coordinating strategic and successful asset management plans for clients everywhere from Jordan to Guam, Jonathan is advancing the firm’s conveyance practice with steadfast dedication. He most enjoys “working with different employees and clients from all over the world who I wouldn’t otherwise get to meet and getting to work on projects that take me to new parts of the world.”
Jonathan is not only a successful pipeline conveyance expert, but he is quite musically inclined as well. “I was in a band that had a record deal. I quit school for a bit to tour, but ultimately chose to finish my education and pursue a career in environmental engineering. I still play some solo stuff on the side,” he says.
Getting to work on projects that take me to new parts of the world has been really exciting.
