Roshan Aflaki, PhD, PE
Roshan Aflaki brings thirty years of technical expertise and management skills across all facets of wastewater collection and treatment operations. She is CDM Smith’s practice leader for PFAS in the west, collaborating with CDM Smith’s scientists, researchers, and engineers from across the country to bring the latest and greatest innovations to California clients.
Roshan’s technical expertise includes first generation microfiltration through the latest advancements and includes recent experience pre-qualifying, testing, and validating microfiltration/ultrafiltration systems. She has directed a prolific research program for Los Angeles, where she partnered with manufacturers, leading engineering firms, universities, and technical experts for implementation, including policy studies and participating integrally in current national discussions on potable reuse.
She has also worked for the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation, where she provided leadership for operations and planning of complex multi-million-dollar plant upgrade and expansion projects. Her work included procurement, conducting resource assessments, transition planning, and developing and implementing effective training programs, managing annual O&M budgets of over $500 million.
