Glen Andersen
“I am inspired by seeing others perform service for the betterment of society,” says Dr. Glen Andersen, geotechnical engineering discipline leader. With nearly four decades of experience in geotechnical engineering, Glen’s expertise spans across a variety of sectors including water storage and distribution, transportation, oil and gas, power generation, manufacturing, and public works. Dr. Andersen has worked on many types of transportation projects including railroad grade separations, bridge replacements and rehabilitations, forensic evaluations, highway widenings, slope stabilizations, intersection redesigns, and large corridor studies.
In addition, he has received awards for his significant contributions in his field, including the ASTM Hogentogler Award (1998) and the Author’s Award from Hydro Review (2000). He is also a member of the Chair of the Earth Retaining Structures Committee (ASCE Geo-Institute) and of the NCEES Civil Exam Committee.
Glen’s proudest project included making repairs to the Lake Manatee Dam. He served as the technical project manager for design and construction for phase II of the project, and he was able to identify a serious dam safety issue through evaluations and designed the solution before the dam was breached.
