Joe LaRosa

Joe LaRosa is an experienced and dedicated automation discipline leader at CDM Smith. With a background in automation engineering and project management, Joe has played a key role in designing and imple­ment­ing automation solutions for a wide range of projects. His expertise includes process control, instru­men­ta­tion, data acquisition, and SCADA systems, and he has a deep under­stand­ing of the latest tech­nolo­gies and industry best practices.

Joe's favorite part of his job is seeing the automation system in action. As he notes, the automation component is often the final puzzle piece of the overall solution, and seeing it come together to deliver real-world results is incredibly rewarding.

Perhaps Joe's proudest project to date is the Nassau County SCADA Improve­ments project. This multi-year effort involved designing a county-wide SCADA system that ties in three wastewater plants and associated pumping stations in Nassau County, New York. The SCADA system design includes a plant-wide fiber optic network at each plant as well as cellular commu­ni­ca­tion with each remote pumping station. Joe played a key role in this project serving as project manager and overseeing the automation component.

Joe brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to his role at CDM Smith and is committed to helping the company achieve its mission of improving the quality of life for people around the world.
