John Boyer, PE, PMP, BCEE
John is an environmental engineer with three decades of diverse experience in water resources assessment and planning, source water protection, solid waste planning and design, as well as hazardous waste investigation and remediation. He is professionally inspired by "clients that recognize the importance and power of water resources planning, provide a framework to support it, and have the perseverance to implement the plan."
He has both contributed to and managed state water planning, source water protection programs, water allocation studies, watershed master plans, flooding studies, stream and wetland mitigation programs, and groundwater management programs.
His proudest project involved the creation of a groundwater flow model for Suffolk County, New York. "In addition to being a great learning experience which drove me into water resources modeling and planning as a career, I take comfort in knowing that the model continues to be enhanced and applied 25 years later to understand and solve complex water resources problems," he says. John has extended his services internationally as well, performing flood studies and assessing water resources potential in Saudi Arabia.
“Over my career, CDM Smith has allowed me to chart my own course and focus on projects and clients where I can make the biggest impact," he says. In his time off the job, John enjoys canoeing, kayaking, and exploring the spectacular lakes, rivers, and coast of the Carolinas.
