Thad Brunson, PE, DBIA
Thad Brunson is a CEI services manager and construction project engineer at CDM Smith. With over 35 years of experience serving in a wide range of capacities, Thad’s knowledge spans across construction, maintenance, and traffic engineering, flexing a special focus on road and bridge construction project management, field engineering and inspection.
“I’m inspired by constructing quality transportation projects where all team members are successful and enjoy the project delivery journey,” he says. Thad consistently delivers high quality projects on time and on budget, driven by his extensive experience in CEI staff management, construction quality assurance, schedule and scope review.
As a former South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) district engineering administrator, district construction engineer and resident construction engineer, Thad has detailed knowledge of SCDOT construction practices, policies, and procedures and has excellent professional relationships with county and municipal staff.
His proudest project to date is collaborating with SCDOT on the Carolina Crossroads project, delivering the largest transportation infrastructure project in the history of South Carolina. “It has been exciting and challenging to implement an innovative quality approach by providing systems and process development,” he says. “The team is also providing construction management on the initial project phases, owner verification inspection, testing and statistical validation of contractor performed materials testing. We are delivering a truly historical project.”
