Mark Maimone, PhD, PE, DWRE, BCEE
"I always look for areas where I don’t necessarily have to apply a standard approach," says senior water resource management specialist Mark Maimone. "I enjoy moving from one specialty area to another within the water resource field, working on everything from analyzing saltwater intrusion in groundwater to assessing climate change impacts,” he says.
Mark has experience in the areas of source water protection and stormwater studies, water quality studies, wetlands remediation and mathematical modeling of ground and surface water. He has led major water resource planning studies in Chester County and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as directed the decision process for the NYC Water Supply Dependability Study.
With about four decades of experience in groundwater and surface water studies and more than 100 projects under his belt, his proudest accomplishment has been “developing a practical and innovative approach to downscaling global climate model precipitation output and making it available for urban stormwater applications. This has been a significant problem for utilities and municipalities in assessing their risk of climate change.”
“Melding emerging scientific advances with practical engineering solutions is my passion,” he says.
I enjoy the challenge of taking on problems for which there is no established solution or approach and coming up with new ways to address it.
