Project Manager and Commercial Leader
A senior electrical engineer with 28 years of experience, David is particularly proud of his work on the electric utility master plan developed for the U.S. Navy base in Bahrain, one of several electrical reliability improvement projects CDM Smith has completed at Naval facilities across the globe. “The work we do is important,” says Dave. “Our clients have missions that benefit the communities we live in.”

Laurel loves the problem-solving aspect of her job. “I work on puzzles every day in design considerations, energy utilization and data analysis.” She has served as project technical leader on some of the industry’s most innovative biosolids and bioenergy projects.

Mechanical Engineering Discipline Leader
Dan is currently supporting a first-of-its-kind engineering effort to retrofit a Massachusetts community from natural gas over to a geothermal heat pump network. Aside from breaking ground—literally and physically—in the energy realm, Dan leverages his design and construction savvy to improve the world around him.

Dustin Craig
Bioenergy Specialist
Dustin’s recent work with clients like the Des Moines Wastewater Reclamation Authority and Ventura, California’s Water Reclamation Facility resulted in the improvements of biogas production, beneficial utilization, and sludge dewatering technologies to handle biosolid residuals in a more cost-effective way. “CDM Smith is a technical powerhouse with an incredible bench strength of expertise,” says Craig.

Michelle Stark
Senior Electrical Engineer
Michelle has a deep connection to her work and is inspired by her own children. She is currently working with USAID in Lebanon to design solar systems to keep water treatment facilities and pump stations in operation when utility power is unavailable. "By focusing on renewable energy on many of our projects, by being part of the designs of wastewater and water treatment facilities, I feel like I am making a difference.”

With accreditations including certified energy manager, certified green building engineer, and registered professional engineer in 11 states, Mario is recognized as a leading expert in his field. One of Mario's proudest achievements is working on the MWRA John Carroll WTP project, for which he designed a sophisticated electrical distribution system.

Mike Thomas
Industrial Manager/Substation Specialist
Having completed over 200 projects with CDM Smith, Mike still believes every project is unique. “Every project you work on and every client you work with involves something that you didn’t know before.” Mike has been involved with electrical power, high- and low-voltage electrical design, substation and transmission line engineering, and project management for various industrial, governmental, commercial, and educational facilities.
